The ion exchange process is an effective and mature process technology in the demineralization and decolorization of citric acid, and is widely used in the industrial production of citric acid. However, the high osmotic pressure of citric acid causes repeated expansion and contraction of the resins during the fine purification process, and makes the resins bear a huge osmotic pressure, especially for anion exchange resins. Under this condition, the resins can be easily broken, reducing the service life of the resins and increasing the cost. This has become a common problem that holds back the development of the industry, and there was a strong call for a solution.

Since 2017, Sunresin has carried out research and development on BPA resins. From understanding the production process of bisphenol A to benchmarking against similar competition products, after thousands of experiments and demonstrations, the resins were be tested for the first time in 2022.

During the processing from the corn raw materials to the final allulose product, Sunresin provides a complete purification process including: ion exchange deashing, activated carbon decolorization, chromatographic separation, etc., to achieve high-quality crystalline allulose.

On March 7, Forbes China released the list of "2023 China’s 100 Power Businesswomen". Dr. Gao Yuejing, chairwoman of Sunresin, was selected on the list, demonstrating the outstanding contributions of the "she power" in the development of Sunresin.

Sunresin provides a mature ion exchange resin process for acetic acid purification, which can remove bromine or chloride ions in acetic acid to less than 5ppm, or undetectable levels. The fixed bed mode is recommended for the ion exchange process for acetic acid purification, which runs continuously and removes impurities through the front and back resin columns to improve the removal accuracy and ensure the maximum utilization of the resins. According to the forecast from 2020 to 2025, the global lactic acid market is growing rapidly, with the growth rate at about 12.8%. This means the value of the lactic acid market will double every five years, from $1.1 billion in 2020 to $2.2 billion in 2025.

Sunresin’s VOCs treatment resin is a styrene-DVB matrix macroporous adsorption resin with a specially designed resin structure. It has a good mesh structure and a high specific surface area, and can be sieved through the size of the pores. Organic molecules are selectively adsorbed by interaction, intermolecular force or hydrogen bond interaction.

In Sunresin’s method, the hydrophobicity of the resin is further increased, the degree of crosslinking gets increased, and the pore structure gets adjusted. The adsorption resins have a narrow particle size distribution, uniform pore size and high specific surface area. As the size of micropores in the resin is close to the molecular size of perfluorooctanoate in water, which has a strong selectivity of the adsorbates and can therefore further increase the adsorption rate of perfluorinated compounds.
