Biodiesel Purification

Biodiesel is an alternative fuel consisting of long-chain alkyl  (methyl, ethyl, or propyl) esters, which is produced from straight vegetable oil, animal oil or fats, tallow and waste cooking oil. Most biodiesel produced at present is produced from waste vegetable oil sourced from restaurants, chip shops, industrial food producers. Biodiesel can be used alone, or blended with petrodiesel in any proportions.

Biodiesel as a biodegradable, sustainable and clean energy has worldwide attracted renewed and growing interest in recent years, chiefly due to development in biodiesel fuel and ecological pressures which include climatic changes. In the production of biodiesel separation and purification is a critical technology.

SEPLITE® BD130 ion exchange resin media can be used without any special pre-treatment, which greatly simplifies biodiesel purification. It functions as a desiccant, neutralizing agent and an ion exchanger to remove water, leftover reactants and by-products of the transesterification process, including soaps, glycerin, NaOH and organics.

SEPLITE® BD130 resin product has high exchange capability to remove the impurities from biodiesel,

such as water, glycerine, catalyst residue, methanol and soaps as well so as to meet criteria as

ASTM D6751 and EN 14214. It has long operation time and is excellent on bead Integrity that allows

better fluid dynamics function. This premium product has significant competitiveness in both performance

and price.

Advantages of SEPLITE® BD130 biodiesel purification polymeric resin media

  1) High exchange capacity which means better treatment ability

  2) Low catalyst consumption
  3) Constant reliable quality
4)Better cost-performance compared with other suppliers
